Who owns what, which practices changed operator or control, and where there is room for another practice.
Ownership from Companies House matched to every registered practice. Every neighbourhood in the UK and ZIP area in the US ranked by practices per resident. Premises approved before they open.

Type the states you cover. In a second you will see how many practices we hold there, what their websites say, which brands they name and what they publish as prices.
“Every list I get sold is the same forty brands. I know who Aspen and Heartland are. Who are the six- and seven-location operators in North Carolina that nobody has a name for?”
The filters, in plain English
On Who owns what, with the country set to the United States, there are two tables and they never mix.
From the register: the parent organisation each practice declared when it registered with the federal provider registry
Matched by us: practices we grouped ourselves, filtered to same website, the strongest of the three rules
State: North Carolina, sorted by size
The count, then the practices
Nationally, before the state filter: 331 networks are named in federal filings — average 8.1 locations, largest 219. 8,298 networks we matched ourselves — average 4.4 locations, largest 1,068.
Those two numbers are never added. They are different kinds of statement about different sets of practices, and 29,191 US practices sit in at least one network of either kind.
In North Carolina, out of 2,935 practices we hold: 15 filed networks covering 115 practices. 371 networks we matched ourselves covering 1,111 practices.
Four of the matched ones, all grouped by shared website:
| Website | Practices | Towns | Rule | How sure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| oakridgedentalarts.com | 7 | Belmont, Charlotte, Cornelius, Huntersville, Rockwell, Sherrills Ford, Stanley | Same website | 0.90 |
| freshdentalnc.com | 6 | Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, Harrisburg, Hickory, Huntersville | Same website | 0.90 |
| o2dentalgroup.com | 6 | Carthage, Durham, Fayetteville, Raleigh, Siler City, Wilmington | Same website | 0.90 |
| axiomdentistry.com | 6 | Benson, Clayton (two), Louisburg, Raleigh, Zebulon | Same website | 0.90 |
Every matched row carries the rule, how often that rule holds across the clusters we checked by hand, and the day we read the practice records. Read from the database on 7 September 2026.
The evidence, its source, its date
Read the sentence we put on the row. It is written to be argued with: “6 practices we hold (all in NC) give axiomdentistry.com as their website, read from our practice records on 7 September 2026. A shared website usually means a group or a franchise; it can also mean one web agency building every site. It is not an ownership record. The site does not name a group, so we do not name one.”
- The three rules, strongest first same website (0.90), same phone number (0.85), the same person signed the federal registrations (0.70). The figure is how often that rule holds across the clusters we checked by hand. It is not a check of the row it sits on, and every screen that prints it says so.
- The filed table is a different thing entirely. In most states a practice must be owned by a licensed dentist, so the parent named on a filing is often a dentist's own professional corporation rather than a brand you would recognise. The registrant states it; nobody verifies it.
- What the two tables together do not give you. Most NC practices appear in neither. That does not make them independent. We did not check a register and find nothing — there is no register to check. The United States has no Companies House, and any product that tells you a US practice is confirmed independent is telling you something it cannot know.
What changed, and when
Only 106 of the 8,298 networks we matched nationally carry a name anywhere. The rest are known by the website their practices share and nothing else, which is why nobody sells this half: it has to be assembled before it can be read. Oak Ridge Dental Arts is seven practices in a ring around Charlotte — one owner to approach, if the shared website means what it usually means.
Of North Carolina's ZIP areas, 60 are saturated and 102 are underserved. 28409 Wilmington: 36,163 residents, 3 practices, 0.8 per 10,000, 20% aged 65 or over, median household income $111,048. 28787 Weaverville: 22,809 and 2, 0.9 per 10,000, 27%. 28590 Winterville: 27,471 and 3, 1.1 per 10,000, 14%. 27332 Sanford: 36,947 and 4, 1.1 per 10,000, 17%. For contrast, 27408 in Greensboro holds 30 practices for 16,519 residents: 18.2 per 10,000.
None of it is dated the way a UK filing is. The United States files no ownership change, so the only date on this page is the day we read the practice records: 7 September 2026.
The arithmetic, shown at three levels
The same arithmetic as the UK, because it is the same job: one approach that lands before the practice is marketed.
What differs is what the money buys. Not the brands everybody already knows — the 8,298 networks we matched ourselves, 371 of them in North Carolina alone, and the discipline that keeps every one of them in a separate table from the 331 the federal registry holds a filing for.
The fee payable to a broker or an intermediary on one deal, against a year of the seat:
| Broker or intermediary fee on one deal | A year of the seat | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| $20,000 | $5,988 | 3.3× |
| $50,000 | $5,988 | 8.4× |
| $120,000 | $5,988 | 20.0× |
The group and investor plan is $499 a month, $5,988 a year. The alternative charges from $12,000 a year and its own sample page says DSO affiliation is unavailable.
The gaps, before you find them
Who owns a US practice. There is no company register. Every row in the matched table says practices are linked and says how: same website, same phone number, same signatory. Never “owns”.
When control of a US practice changed. The UK gives us 789 practices with a dated ownership filing in the last twelve months. The US gives us none, because nothing is filed. What we do have is dated differently: 381 new federal dental registrations in the last 90 days, matched to 374 practices we hold.
Whether a matched group is a group. Seven practices on one website can be one owner or one web agency. We give you the rule, its reliability, the sentence and the date. We do not give you a verdict.
Whether a practice in no network is independent. Worth restating, because it is the claim every rival list makes and cannot support: there is no register to check.
Anything financial. No US accounts, no loans, no valuations. The financial data exists on the UK side of the product only.
What the practice sees about itself. Not the financial half of the record. Company filings, filed accounts and warning signs are rendered on a subscriber's view of a practice and never on a practice-facing one, in either direction. It is a UK rule by origin and there is little to apply it to here, and it is applied here anyway.
Questions
Is a Companies House match proof of ownership?
A registered link is: the regulator names the company, or its directors, owners or registered office match the practice. A match we made ourselves is labelled "matched by us" with the rule and how sure. When we checked 30 of our own matches by hand, 27 were right (90%, checked 27 August 2026).
Can we get the data into our own systems?
Spreadsheet export today, up to 25,000 practices at a time on the group plan. There is no programmatic access (API) yet.
